Paul McCartney has rejected Heather Mills' offer of an out-of-court divorce settlement.

The former Beatles star wants to "go all the way", while Mills fears court proceedings may lower her settlement figure, claims The Mirror.

Mills reportedly wanted to agree a £10 million deal, which was rejected by her ex during a phone call at the weekend.

Speaking about the telephone conversation, a source said: "She was in tears but he was extremely cool.

"He just said 'See you in court'. Heather is desperate not to face a court. She thinks she'll be humiliated when her past is raked up.

"I think she's worried that every time something bad is written about her, the court payment will go down."

McCartney will face his former partner in London's High Court at 10am today to decide how much of his estimated £825 million fortune she is entitled to and discuss custody rights to their four-year-old daughter Beatrice.

A friend of the musician said: "He was in good spirits, quite a jaunty mood. He was relishing the forthcoming court case as he was always prepared to go all the way."
