Valentine's Day is supposed to be a day to celebrate true love, shovel your mouth full of expensive chocolates and quaff flagons of bubbly. So DS has decided to do its bit at playing cupid and has linked up two single stars that could make a go of it in 2008. Who are these lucky celebs, you ask? Well, after we saw him lurking around Harry Potter star Emma Watson earlier this week, we thought Johnny Borrell was due a girlfriend closer his age, and who better for the biggest ego in rock than the biggest ego in America? Paris Hilton.

But what have the mucky jean-wearing, long-haired indie-rocker and dippy, super-rich, veteran sex-tape romper have in common? More than you'd think! Through a chain of six people, Borrell and Hilton are already romantically linked...

Johnny Borrell to... Kirsten Dunst - Bring It On actress and Hollywood A-lister Dunst fell "head over heels" for Borrell after seeing his band play at Texas' SXSW festival in 2007. She even ditched attending the official premiere after-party for Spider-Man 3 to spend time with him down his local Camden boozer. Reese Witherspoon - Three years after he broke up with Dunst, Gyllenhaal dipped his toes in the seas of Hollywood romance once again by cosying up with his Rendition co-star Reese Witherspoon. The Oscar winner had split with Ryan Phillippe one year earlier and admitted to struggling with life as a single parent. Rumours of engagements and wedding proposals have been repeatedly denied by the pair and the last we heard Witherspoon was calling it all off because she didn't want to upset her children.

Reese Witherspoon to... James Blunt - Between her flings with Phillippe and Gyllenhaal, Witherspoon was briefly linked to Britain's favourite army-major-come-acoustic-popstar James Blunt. The couple were reported to have "shared a connection" after one of his gigs at LA's El Rey Theatre in 2007. However, a couple of months later the bearded guitar-wielder was boasting about sharing a swimming pool with nine naked women and Witherspoon had become another name on his long list of conquests.

James Blunt to... Paris Hilton - Not once, not twice, but three times in 2007 Blunt was spotted in the same building as everyone's favourite pornstar-come-jailbird Paris Hilton. First they were seen "cosying up" in an LA nightclub, next they were performing Grease tunes on a karaoke machine and in October the socialite was seen wearing a disguise at one of his concerts. But what was she hiding? A broken heart? A bad case of acne? Or perhaps a box of Milk Tray to offer her man after he'd finished warbling his hits? They have claimed since they are just good friends, but why should we believe them - they're celebrities!
