Police called Prince William as a witness after a man was struck by a glass bottle in a Newquay club, reports The Daily Star.

The Prince was enjoying a night out at the Barracuda Club in Cornwall when a 19-year-old was hit in the face by a broken bottle.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was given 35 stitches for a facial injury.

Bodyguards made sure the Prince wasn't harmed as trouble began to brew in the club after the attack.

Police later questioned William and hundreds of other clubbers about the incident.

Samantha Bazeley, one of the club's barmaids said the Prince was trying to stay away from the club's dance floor.

"He was just sitting upstairs in the corner with his friends. There were bouncers – but just dressed in normal clothes."

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “There was an incident in the nightclub when a local man received injuries to his face from a broken glass bottle.

"Two men and the victim were arrested and bailed and inquiries are ongoing. We have interviewed everyone we know was there."
