Radio 1 DJ Grooverider has been given a four-year jail term for cannabis smuggling.
Grooverider, real name Raymond Bingham, admitted to carrying the drug into Dubai, where he was arrested on November 27, 2007.
He was found with 2.16 grams of cannabis in his pockets at Dubai airport.
The pioneering drum and bass DJ previously claimed in court that he had forgotten the drugs were in his possession.
In an interview from jail, he said: "I just want this to end and to never come back. It was a small amount. Back home I would not even get prosecuted."
A BBC spokesperson commented: "He made a serious mistake and is paying a very high price."
His DJ colleague Fabio will continue to present their regular Radio 1 show.
