Madonna in naked Monroe picture mix-up

A naked photo that experts believed to be of Marilyn Monroe has turned out to be a picture of Madonna.

Monroe specialists claimed that a snap found in the home of an American couple was taken in 1962 and featured the movie icon posing nude as a hitchhiker.

It was only when the photograph was shown to journalists that it was established that the picture was actually taken from Madonna's infamous 1992 book Sex.

Chris Harris, who verified the picture to be of Marilyn Monroe said: "You're right; it's Madonna. If there ever was an embarrassing moment...Who wins here? Madonna, of course. She really looks like Marilyn Monroe."
