Britney Spears' manager Sam Lutfi is under investigation for allegedly drugging the singer, reports TMZ.
The case has been assigned to LAPD's Robbery Homicide division due to the nature of the allegations and the media whirlwind surrounding Spears.
Sources claim several witnesses have been questioned with regard to the drugs found in Spears' system when she was committed to UCLA Medical Centre's psychiatric ward.
A restraining order was issued against Lutfi after Spears' family accused him of drugging the popstar and cutting her phone lines. Lutfi was ordered to stay 250 yards away from the singer's home, parents, siblings and children.
Lutfi has denied claims he has tried to profit from his relationship with Spears, saying he "never accepted money from the media".
The 33-year-old has also attacked the popstar's family, who he says are "incapable of telling the truth and incapable of sympathizing".
Sources say the drugs investigation will probably be concluded in March.
