Stars urged to have hepatitis shot

Stars including Demi Moore, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow have been urged to get a vaccination against Hepatitis A following Ashton Kutcher's 30th birthday party.

The New York City health department has expressed concern after it emerged that a member of staff at Manhattan's Socialista bar was infected with the disease.

Bruce Willis, Liv Tyler, Catherine Keener, Javier Bardem and Lucy Liu are also reported to have attended the bash on February 7.

Other famous names in attendance included Salma Hayek, Ivanka Trump and designer Roberta Cavalli.

Any visitors to the West Village bar on February 7, 8 or 11 are being encouraged to have a hepatitis jab as they are deemed to be "at risk and need a preventive shot".

Between 700 and 800 people are thought to have visited over the three nights, but no cases arising from the venue have yet been identified.

Hepatitis A is an infection of the liver caused by the Hepatitis A virus and is estimated to affect up to 10 million people each year.
