Christie slams Hollywood 'product placement'
Julie Christie has complained about the amount of "product placement" at Hollywood events.

The actress said she was unimpressed with the media fascination with stars' outfits and jewellery.

She is quoted by the Daily Express as saying: "I don't like the way the red carpet has turned into product placement.

"'Who are you wearing? From where did you borrow your jewels?' I don't know where the glamour is in admitting you've borrowed your jewellery or were put together by a stylist."

Christie added that she is not anticipating being the focus of attention when she arrives for Sunday's Oscars, where she is up for Best Actress for Away From Her.

The 68-year-old said: "Let's be realistic, you want to see people like Johnny Depp on the red carpet, or Angelina Jolie - a young woman I admire.

"There's always been an obsession with youth and beauty. What's missing is the equal obsession with respect for the older people and their wisdom, knowledge and courage."
