Popstar Rihanna has been made an ambassador for culture and youth by her native Barbados.
The singer was a guest of honour at a tribute rally and concert last week when Prime Minister David Thompson awarded her the title.
Rihanna said: "I really don't know what to say. I am so grateful and I have never been more proud to be Bajan."
The Caribbean island's government will also reward Rihanna with a "piece of the rock" - a plot of land in the exclusive Apes Hill area of St James parish.
Rihanna revealed last week that she would like to release her Brits performance of 'Umbrella', which was backed by the Klaxons' 'Golden Skans', as a single.
