Miley Cyrus has reportedly been told she can't be friends with Lindsay Lohan by her parents.

Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus believe Lohan, who spent a period in rehab last year, will be a bad influence on their daughter, according to the National Enquirer.

Lohan met the Hannah Montana star at Sunday's Oscars and they are rumoured to have exchanged phone numbers.

Cryus's parents have allegedly demanded she deletes the Mean Girls star's details from her mobile.

The 15-year-old actress recently revealed that she struggled to make friends because of her parents' protective nature.

She said: "They're protective for sure. My mum is more strict than my dad.

"You want to keep your close circle of friends. And sometimes my mum is saying, 'I have a bad vibe about this person. She needs to hang out with you when I'm around just to keep you safe.'

"I need more friends. It's kind of like my quest right now just to have more true friends."
