Two doctors who supplied actor Heath Ledger with prescription drugs are under investigation by federal drug authorities, reports People.

The 28-year-old was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on January 22 and autopsy results concluded the actor died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

A probe was launched earlier in the month to ascertain how Ledger obtained the medication.

A source claimed: "We are investigating doctors in Los Angeles and Texas with regard to Ledger’s prescriptions."

However, the source couldn't confirm whether or not the drugs were prescribed illegally.

"We don’t know yet. The agents were there this week, and we are waiting to hear from them."

Other reports state that the two doctors supplied Ledger with Oxycontin and Vicodin.
