Simpson denies new engagement rumours

Ashlee Simpson has again denied reports that she is engaged to Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz.

The couple were rumoured to be planning to marry after Simpson wore a diamond 'promise ring' during an appearance on US TV show The Sauce.

Talking about the significance of the ring, she said: "It just means that he [Wentz] hasn't asked my Dad [for permission] yet!"

However, the singer's spokesperson said: "She is not engaged."

Simpson also denied reports that she is expecting a baby after she and Wentz posted a spoof video on the internet in which she wore a fake belly.

She told TMZ that the video had been a joke and insisted that there was no truth in the pregnancy rumours.

She initially denied claims that she and Wentz were engaged last month.
