Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has offered breaking news in exchange for sex tapes from a media rival, say reports.

Aspiring journalist Jonathan Jaxson claimed he sent the blogger, real name Mario Lavandeira, several sex tapes and photos under the belief that he would receive celebrity news in return.

Jaxson runs his own gossip site and used to be a publicist for the Backstreet Boys.

He has sent instant message conversations to ABC, which he claims involve Lavandeira.

According to Jaxson, Lavandeira first requested sex tapes in September 2007 and offered him advice on how to film them.

Jaxson said: "He instructed me on how to sit and how to lie and exactly who to send it to. It was stupid. It wasn't some classy porn video. It was basically to please him and he got off on it."

He claimed he was "left empty-handed" by Lavandeira, who was always "too busy" to meet his part of the deal.

"I fell in love with his character. I thought he was a funny, articulate individual," added Jaxson. "But I also saw him as a person who has everything he needs and yet is still so unhappy."
