Sugababe Amelle feels "paranoid and wary"
Amelle Berrabah has admitted that she feels "paranoid and wary" after a tough twelve months.

The Sugababes singer was horrified when her boyfriend Freddie Fuller was attacked with a machete on Christmas Eve. He suffered severe injuries to his left arm and leg, but pulled through after undergoing four operations.

Fuller had previously been accused of sexually assaulting Amelle's sister Samiya, but all charges against him were dropped and he managed to get his relationship with Berrabah back on track.

More recently, Amelle was questioned by police over claims that she caused criminal damage to a car. She was cleared last month.

"All this bad stuff has made me a person I don't want to be," Amelle told the News of the World. "I feel paranoid and wary, but that's not me.

"When Freddie was attacked, I had 30 seconds with him before he went into surgery. I told him that he was going to be OK, but really I thought it was the last time I'd see him."

"I still feel like I'm in a dark hole," she added. "I'm desperate to get out of it, but something's changed."

Amelle joined the Sugababes in December 2005, as a replacement for Mutya Buena, who quit the group.
