Johnny Vegas divorces 'abusive' wife

Comedian Johnny Vegas has claimed ex-wife Kitty Donnelly's "abusive" behaviour is the reason behind their divorce.

The pair were granted a decree nisi by District Judge Million yesterday.

Vegas, who was married to Donnelly for six years, referred to her as "irrational", "unpredictable" and "aggressive" in court documents.

A divorce document from London's High Court said: "The petitioner [Vegas] came to the conclusion that his marriage was in fact at an end on September 3, 2003, when he returned home after a long day at work.

"The respondent had been drinking and was aggressive and abusive to him throughout the entire night."

The pair wed in San Francisco in July 2002 and have one child, four-year-old Michael. Vegas sold his wedding photos to Viz magazine for £1.

Donnelly is currently living in their marital home in North London, while Vegas is residing in St Helens.
