Dahl blasts 'freakshow' image of romance

Sophie Dahl has hit out at the media's portrayal of her relationship with jazz star Jamie Cullum.

The couple have made headlines because of the height difference between them, with 6ft Dahl eight inches taller than her boyfriend.

The model-turned-author told The Times: “Thanks to genetics the image of us together has been treated like a carnival sideshow.

“What's lost... is that we happen to be two people who met, fell madly in love and will probably produce fairly average-sized children, hopefully with his more elegant feet, not mine.”

She added: "Height is one of those things you can't do a whole lot about. It's a bit like colour. If my boyfriend was black, I doubt very much there would have been such a vocal response to our coupling, because that's out of bounds."

The pair began dating after performing two songs together at a breast cancer charity event last March.
