Annie Lennox has claimed that women deserve more praise for helping society to function well.
The singer insisted that women work harder than men and that their "behind the scenes" work often goes unrecognised.
She made her comments at the launch of Bryan Adams' Brilliant Women photography exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery earlier this week.
"Women still have to work harder than men. When you go to hospitals and care homes it is women doing the hard work, the drudgery," Lennox explained. "Women do the housework - they work behind the scenes and have to do it all and also compete with men."
Annie has also called for young offenders to be sent to disadvantaged countries so they can appreciate how lucky they are.
"It is heartbreaking when you see these children fending for themselves," she said. "If youth offenders came out I think they couldn't help but be affected by it all. Maybe it'd help them think twice about their privileges."
