Hospital staff to be fired over Britney breach

A group of Los Angeles hospital staff are facing the sack for looking at Britney Spears's confidential medical records.

The UCLA Medical Center confirmed that some employees had violated Britney's privacy, but refused to comment on when the incident took place and how many staff members were involved.

Jeri Simpson, the hospital's director of human resources, explained that some members of the group will be fired, while others will be disciplined for their actions.

Britney was treated at the hospital's psychiatric ward after she was removed from her home and placed on a "mental health evaluation hold" at the end of January.

It is not the first time that the hospital's staff members have looked at Spears's records. A similar incident occurred after Spears gave birth to her son Sean Preston in 2005. The employees involved were subsequently fired.

"It's not only surprising, it's very frustrating and it's very disappointing," Simpson said, referring to the latest breach. She added that she felt "horrible" that Britney's privacy had been invaded again.
