Rihanna has revealed that she feels "honoured" to have helped a leukaemia sufferer find a bone marrow donor.

The R&B singer publicised the plight of New York lawyer Lisa Gershowitz-Flynn, 41, who had been given just four to six weeks to find a match.

More than 5,000 people contacted DKMS after Rihanna joined forces with the bone marrow donor centre to promote the case. Lisa is now believed to be preparing for her transplant.

"There are no words to express how happy I am for Lisa and her family," Rihanna explained. "I am thankful she found a donor and I feel honoured to be a part of such an amazing miracle."

Speaking to People magazine, she added: "This blessing has continued to keep me aware of how precious life really is. I will be praying for Lisa and her family as they move into a hopeful future."
