The Little Britain star, who was appearing at the BBC studios to talk about his charity swim to Morocco with rower James Cracknell, had his mansion broken into on Friday night.
Police believe criminals targeted Walliams's home because they knew he would be at the Sport Relief event.
A neighbour told The Sunday Mirror: "David was clearly very angry, as you'd expect. There were no obvious signs of a break-in and the house seems to be bristling with security.
"It is clearly alarmed and there are grilles over all of the windows so the burglars must have known what they were doing to get in."
Walliams cancelled an interview with Jonathan Ross on BBC Radio 2 after discovering the break-in.
"No arrests have been made and enquiries are continuing," a spokesman for police in Belsize Park, London said.
