The guitarist told GQ that he sometimes found Jagger's behaviour painful to watch.
"I mean, dickering and dangling. I'm not there watching it every day. But there was, at the time, a load of excruciatingly painful campness that went on," Richards said. "Obviously there was no shortage of women on tour with us though."
Richards denied having any knowledge of Jagger's alleged one night stand with David Bowie, saying he had "no idea" if it actually happened.
The 64-year-old also admitted that Stones groupies would look after the band members if they were ill.
"It wasn't all boinky-boinky. They used to take care of you. They used to rub medicine on your chest if you had a cold," said Richards.
