Russell Brand "hates" being unknown in US

Russell Brand has admitted that he is unhappy about being unknown in the States.

The comedian revealed that he misses being recognised on the street and reading about himself in newspapers when he visits LA.

"Nobody recognises me in Los Angeles! I walk down a street and no-one bats an eyelid or even takes my photograph," Russell told the Daily Star. "I'm not in any newspapers, no-one cares who I'm sleeping with or what I do. And you know what? I flippin' hate it! Women don't drop at my feet - in fact my feet are totally unencumbered by ladies."

"Americans ask what my fame is like compared to someone like Hugh Grant," he continued. "I tell them it's a much more tabloid-based fame, unless of course Hugh Grant has been sleeping with prostitutes - and then we're about even."

Brand has been promoting his new movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall in the US. The film also stars Jason Segel and Kristen Bell.
