Brady Green, 37, had pleaded not guilty to stalking, harassment and criminal trespassing after he was accused of "terrorising" the chatshow host from "coast to coast".
Green, from Georgia, had allegedly deluged Banks with letters and phone calls since the beginning of the year.
He was arrested on Tuesday after showing up at her New York TV studio carrying a duffel bag packed with magazine articles about her and notes about his attempts to contact her, reports the New York Post.
He was removed from the building but later returned to a restaurant across the road. He is also believed to have turned up at her TV studios in LA.
A producer said staff in New York fear he will try to visit Banks again after a Manhattan court released him without bail, saying: "There's no security at this building. It's very scary."
