Patrick Swayze's name has been used in a campaign to make a "revolutionary" cancer drug more available.

The Loughman family from Indiana have been lobbying medical bosses and pharmaceutical firm GenVec Inc to make the gene therapy more accessible since wife and mum Connie was diagnosed with the disease.

The family hoped that using Swayze's picture and story on new website CureConnieAndPatrick.com would help their campaign find a sympathetic ear.

However, the actor's publicist Annett Wolf told Defamer: "Patrick is not aware of this website, and he has no association with it or the medication it advertises.

"He is not affiliated with the woman from the site; Patrick had no knowledge of her."

The Dirty Dancing star was revealed to be suffering from pancreatic cancer earlier this month.
