Ex-Corrie star axed from 'Snappers' film

Ex-Coronation Street star Bruce Jones has been axed from the British movie Snappers.

Jones, 55, who played Les Battersby in the Northern soap, was lined up to play a paparazzo in the film alongside stars including Joss Stone, Caroline Quentin and Phil Middlemiss.

The actor has now been replaced by a more "high-profile" star according to producer George Bamby.

He told the Daily Star: "When the script was originally written the part was suitable for Bruce.

"However, the character has changed. It is now bigger and better and it was felt it wasn’t a role that he could play anymore. We have a very high-profile actor lined up for the part."

A representative for Jones told The Mirror: "He was never contracted for this movie. There was nothing ever in black and white."
