Bryan Adams is stunned that the press found out about his friendship with Amy Winehouse.
The Canadian singer invited Winehouse to spend Christmas at his luxury villa in the Caribbean in a bid to help her overcome her problems with drugs and alcohol.
However, he said he had not expected the media to learn of the invitation and was surprised that she was followed by paparazzi.
He told Seven: "Let me say something about this whole Amy Winehouse scenario. I don't even know, truthfully, how anybody knows I know her - other than the fact that I photographed her for charity."
Commenting on press intrusion into her life, he said: "It's her business. You know what I mean? I just thought it would be nice for someone to come and spend time… But I don't want to focus on that."
It was recently reported that he has included a song about Winehouse on new album 11.
