Naomi Campbell was arrested yesterday following a row at Heathrow's Terminal 5.
The supermodel allegedly spat and assaulted a police officer who tried to calm her down after she was told one her bags had gone missing at the airport.
According to The Sun, Campbell was handcuffed by police and taken away "kicking and screaming". She was released on bail this morning.
A source commented: "She was going nuts, spitting, punching and lashing out. BA staff were genuinely concerned about her well-being.
"The police adopted a softly softly approach but she still went into a frenzy. They had no choice but to arrest her for the assault of a police officer."
Campbell's press agent Celena Aponte would not comment on the model's behaviour, but claimed BA had "still failed to offer any explanation" for her missing luggage.
A police representative said: "We can confirm that at 17.13pm police were called to a disturbance at Terminal 5, Heathrow. A 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer."
If convicted the 37-year-old faces six months in jail on a charge of assaulting a police officer.
The South Londoner served five months' community service last year after she was found guilty of throwing a mobile phone at a maid.
