Remy Ma to wed fiancé in prison

Rapper Remy Ma is to marry her fiancé in jail while she awaits sentencing for assault.

The Grammy-nominated singer faces up to 25 years in prison after shooting an acquaintance outside a Manhattan nightclub last July.

According to her lawyer, she will tie the knot with fellow rapper Papoose at the city's Rikers Island jail ahead of the hearing on April 23.

Ivan Fisher told Reuters: "They're much in love. They're very committed to each other, and they had intended to marry one way or another."

Ma, real name Remy Smith, was found guilty of assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen after she claimed $3,000 had been stolen from her purse.

Only two guests will be permitted at the ceremony, one of around 200 performed at the prison each year.
