'80s popstar Mark Shaw has been beaten up by a gang of youths while shopping for milk.

The Then Jerico singer, who recently starred in ITV's reality show Reborn in the USA was left in a pool of blood and beaten with his own walking stick, reports The Sun.

He required 15 stitches in his head and claimed he feared for his life before police arrived on the scene. Shaw was left with four holes in his skull, a broken nose, broken teeth and two black eyes.

The 46-year-old told The Sun: "It was terrifying, I was convinced I was going to die. One of them kept smashing me over the head with my metal stick while the others egged him on.

"I thought I was going to become another statistic of broken Britain."

The musician added: "I bought the stick in New Orleans when I was out there doing Reborn in the USA. It’s made of two inch-thick metal so it’s really solid.

"They battered me with it until it was bent in two. The attack must have gone on for about three or four minutes - but it felt like a lifetime."

The incident took place in Tooting, South London on Saturday night. Shaw will give a £2,000 reward to anyone that gives information that leads to a conviction.

All the attackers were male and in their early 20s. They disappeared in a small black hatchback with blacked out windows.
