A woman accused of stalking John Cusack faces up to three years in jail after an LA judge ordered her to stand trial.

Emily Leatherman was charged with stalking, petty theft and violating a restraining order following her arrest outside the actor's Malibu home last month.

Cusack won an order in 2006 banning the 33-year-old from going within 152 metres of him at work, at home or in his car.

However, she was taken into custody on Sunday after a taxi driver told police she had not paid her fare and Cusack said she had been following him.

Leatherman was also arrested in front of Tom Cruise's home last March on suspicion of receiving stolen property and violating a restraining order.
