Pete Doherty: 'I'm not on drugs'

Pete Doherty has written a letter to a fan telling her that he is currently "clean" of drugs.

The singer responded to a letter from a Babyshambles supporter named Jenny and insisted that he wasn't taking heroin in jail, reports NME.

Doherty said: "Watcha Jenny! All the best from The Scrubs. Tell 'em I'm clean, countin' the days until the next freedom gig! Yours, Pete D."

Earlier this month, The Sun reported that Doherty was having drugs smuggled into his cell at Wormwood Scrubs.

The indie rocker is currently serving a 14-week sentence for breaching a probation order.
