Cruise's son to appear in Smith film

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman's adopted son Connor is to make his big screen debut in Will Smith drama Seven Pounds.

The 13-year-old will have a "very minor", non-speaking role in the movie, playing Smith as a young man.

He shot the part over two days several weeks ago and will mainly be shown in photographs.

The film, directed by Gabriele Muccino (The Pursuit of Happyness), centres on a man who affects the lives of seven strangers. Rosario Dawson and Woody Harrelson also star.

Cruise adopted Connor with ex-wife Kidman in 1995. They also have adopted daughter Isabella, 15.

People reports that the teenager had to audition for the role, despite the fact that his father and Smith are close friends.
