Landlord: 'I have not evicted Doherty'

Pete Doherty's landlord has denied evicting the singer from his country house.

It was claimed earlier this week that the Babyshambles frontman had smeared blood on the walls of the nine-bedroom mansion in Marlborough, Wiltshire. He was also alleged to have ripped down the curtains and left his cats to run wild in the building.

According to The Mirror, the Earl of Cardigan was disgusted at the condition of the property after paying a visit while Doherty is serving a jail sentence for breaking the terms of his probation.

However, the Earl dismissed the rumours, saying: "I have not evicted him. You shouldn't believe what you read in newspapers."
