The troubled singer attended a Central London police station voluntarily yesterday to be questioned over an alleged incident which took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning. However, officers decided that she was not in a fit state to be interviewed and she was held overnight.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "A 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault after attending a central London police station by appointment. She is currently in custody."
Winehouse is accused of headbutting a man who tried to help her to get a taxi outside a bar in Camden. It is also claimed that she punched a second man in the face.
News of Amy's latest brush with the law follows the announcement that she is featured in the new Sunday Times Young Music Millionaires list.
