Coogan: 'I don't take drugs anymore'

Rex Features

Steve Coogan has claimed that he has overcome his problems with drugs.

The comedian, who visited rehab in 2004, said that he keeps himself busy with work to prevent himself relapsing.

He told The Times: "I don't take drugs anymore. Clarity of mind is very precious to me.

"If you have an addictive personality, you have to channel it in a positive, productive way. I'm a workaholic."

Coogan also responded to Courtney Love's comments about his friendship with Owen Wilson. Love blamed the I'm Alan Patridge star for Wilson's suicide attempt in 2007.

"Owen and I have a completely apple-pie friendship," said Coogan.

"We run together on Venice Beach. I have never had a drink or taken drugs with him."
