The former Big Breakfast presenter admitted that she was forced to turn the cash down because she is too shy to strip off on camera.
She told The Sun: "I was asked to do Playboy, they offered me about £1million. But I'm not getting my bits out for a million."
Van Outen also criticised Radio 1's Chris Moyles for his constant goading of her Capital co-presenter Johnny Vaughan.
"Johnny will never rise to it," she said. "It's silly, we are catering for different audiences and the music that Radio 1 play wouldn't be something Capital listeners want. It's pointless.
"It appears to me that Moyles has got more of an issue with Johnny than Johnny has with Moyles. He rarely talks about him."
