Clifford: 'Messenger interview was a mistake'

PR guru Max Clifford has criticised Melinda Messenger for opening up about her marriage split in Hello!

The former Page 3 model and husband Wayne Roberts posed for a joint photoshoot to accompany the article, in which they spoke about the reasons behind their trial separation.

However, Clifford questioned the wisdom of the decision, saying: "At the end of the day do you really want to discuss your relationship break-up with everyone? To me it's not a huge mistake, but the minuses outweigh the pluses from a PR point of view."

He added: "Melinda's got a reputation as a nice girl - this won't be too damaging because it's Hello!, but it stirs things up. It would create more interest in the media, but maybe that's what they want."

Messenger recently said she was looking forward to male attention following the split.
