'SATC' star: 'I drank to feel confident'

Sex And The City star Kristin Davis has opened up about her battle with alcoholism.

The actress said she turned to drink in her 20s in an attempt to feel more confident.

She told Shape magazine: "Alcohol freed me. I was really shy and I didn't know how to come out of my shell.

“I drank for the same reason I loved acting. I wanted to feel things and express myself and be free. And I'm not naturally that way."

She added that she has been sober for more than 15 years and now has a much healthier lifestyle, saying: "I don't drink and I've never smoked. They are bad for your skin and health."

A date with Davis recently sold for £26,000 on eBay.
