Halliwell: 'The Queen epitomises girl power'

Rex Features

Geri Halliwell has described the Queen as a prime example of girl power.

The singer, who coined the phrase during her time with the Spice Girls in the '90s, said the monarch had never "spazzed out" and compromised her dignity.

The 35-year-old told Time Out: "I'm sure that, like all of us, she's had days where she didn't feel like showing up but she always does.

"She has never spazzed out and lost her decorum. She epitomises what girl power stands for because she's maintained a durability and inner strength."

She also praised the 82-year-old's "amazing skin" and said she could relate to her need for privacy, adding: "I saw the film The Queen and the way she wanted to go and be by herself, without all the bodyguards.

"I identified with that in the sense that, although I'm a public person, equally I absolutely love my anonymity."
