The actor, who played Captain Kirk in the '60s series and seven subsequent movies, said women liked to pretend they were in bed with his character rather than him.
Writing in new autobiography Up Till Now, the 77-year-old claimed he and Leonard Nimoy (Spock) were treated like "rock stars" on the conventions circuit in the 1970s.
He said: "I was told there were female Trekkies who kept lists of all the cast members with whom they'd slept. I was told this!
"During much of this time I was single and I had opportunities to be with many women - and I grasped a great many of them. Never at warp speed."
However, he added: "Admittedly, there were times when the woman I was with said: 'So this is what it's like to be in bed with Captain Kirk.' That was definitely a downer, in every sense of the word."
