Fielder-Civil: 'Amy will die without me'

Amy Winehouse's husband has said he fears the singer will die without him.

Blake Fielder-Civil, who is currently on remand in London's Pentonville prison, also said he would leave her if she did not stop taking drugs.

He made the revelations in letters to friend Sarah Thomas, who passed them on to Grazia magazine.

Referring to reports that Winehouse was dating her manager's assistant Alex Haynes, he wrote: "How much is my wife trying to do my head in!? Can't help feeling I'm going to see a photo of her snogging some junkie soon! She needs to remember she's married to someone in prison."

Thomas told the publication: "He doesn't want to go back to Amy because she's doing drugs. People might see it as scandalous, but it has to happen for him to be OK. If Blake was released tomorrow, I think they'd go their separate ways."

She added that Fielder-Civil is frustrated that his wife repeatedly fails to show up for prison visits, saying: "It really upset him when she lets him down. She books visits and doesn't turn up so no one else can go."
