Gordon Brown listens to the Bee Gees every day, band member Robin Gibb has claimed.

Gibb, who formed the group with brothers Barry and Maurice, said the Prime Minister regards their hits as "absolutely timeless".

He told The Times: "He listens to our music every day. Gordon likes our music and I like Gordon."

The 58-year-old is a long-time Labour supporter and said he is good friends with both Brown and predecessor Tony Blair.

The PM reportedly likes the group's back catalogue "because it talks about human relationships and experience rather than specific events, and reaches out across the decades".

However, his spokesman remained tight-lipped on the issue, saying: "The Prime Minister listens to a wide range of music."
