'Trek' star Takei to wed partner

Star Trek actor George Takei has revealed that he will marry his long-term partner Brad Altman.

Takei, who also appears in NBC's Heroes, announced the news on his official website following the decision by California's Supreme Court to allow same-sex marriages.

"Our California dream is reality," Takei wrote. "Brad Altman and I can now marry. We are overjoyed! At long last, the barrier to full marriage rights for same-sex couples has been torn down. We are equal with all citizens of our state!"

Last week, US chatshow host Ellen DeGeneres announced that she would marry girlfriend Portia de Rossi.
