Girls Aloud star Nicola splits from lover

Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts has split from her boyfriend Carl Davies.

The singer decided to end her relationship with entrepreneur Carl following a series of heated rows.

Roberts is believed to be relieved that she can now concentrate fully on the group's Tangled Up tour, which is running throughout the summer.

"It's all very upsetting for poor Nicola but she'd be the first to admit things haven't been great between her and Carl for a while," a source told the News of the World. "Their relationship has always been feisty but recently the rows were explosive.

"There have been lots of tearful late-night phone calls and now she's decided to call time on it all. The strain of touring has taken its toll and Nicola's made up her mind it's over."

Nicola and Carl started dating early last year. Before their relationship turned sour, the pair even went public with their plans to marry in Italy.
