Monkeys star goes camping with girlfriend

Arctic Monkeys star Jamie Cooke took his girlfriend camping to celebrate her 24th birthday.

The guitarist decided to spend time roughing it in the Lake District with glamour model Katie Downes, rather than splashing out on a five-star holiday abroad.

"Jamie and Katie don't like living their relationship in the limelight, so he wanted to do something fun for her birthday some place they wouldn't get recognised," a friend told The Mirror.

Cooke surprised Katie by inviting a group of their close pals to join them on the trip.

"It was a really romantic gesture and Katie thought it was a right laugh," the source added. "The pair of them are like lovesick puppies, it's so cute. They joked that they were in practice for the festival season. Katie absolutely loved it. They went for drinks in the pubs around Keswick and ended up partying until all hours in the field. They were so rowdy, they scared the cows off."
