Sex And The City star Kristin Davis has admitted she didn't think she'd live past 30.

In an interview with Marie Claire, the actress confessed that her alcohol addiction, which started when she was a teenager, caused her to believe she would "end up a car wreck".

Davis said: "I really didn't think I would pass 30.

"Maybe it's because I was drinking so much as a youth. I drank a lot when I was a teenager and I don't drink anymore, because that's when I thought I'm gonna end up a car wreck. I just had a fatalistic view of the whole situation at that point."

The 43-year-old credits acting for helping her become teetotal at the age of 22.

"What made me stop? I realised it was not going to end well. I got into the acting programme, it was very challenging, I was hungover and I wasn't doing so well in my classes. I thought, 'Do you know what? It's going to be one or the other. I can't really have both.'"
