Doherty 'buries kitten' before club show

Pete Doherty told the audience at a London club show last night that he had just buried a pet kitten.

The singer was late for his gig at Brixton Mass, but informed the crowd that he had a valid reason for his poor timekeeping.

According to NME, Doherty said: "Sorry I'm late. But considering I've had to bury one of my cats at the roadside I've done pretty well to be here."

Doherty reportedly turned up at the venue carrying one of his other cats in a pet transporter.

It was the second solo gig that the singer has played this week. He returns to the venue with his band Babyshambles on Friday.
