Christian Dior has dropped Sharon Stone from its Chinese adverts in the wake of her comments about the country's recent earthquake.
The French fashion house released a statement from the actress apologising for suggesting that the disaster was the result of bad "karma" for Bejing's policy in Tibet.
Stone, who models for Christian Dior SA, said: "Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people. I am willing to take part in the relief work of China’s earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people.”
Dior's Shanghai PR manager confirmed that the 50-year-old will no longer appear in campaigns in the country.
China's largest cinema chain yesterday banned Stone's films following her remarks at the Cannes Film Festival.
