Gary Dourdan has avoided a prison sentence after his arrest for possession of heroin, cocaine and Ecstasy, reports the Associated Press.

The 41-year-old, who plays Warrick Brown in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, was arrested and charged after he was found asleep in a parked car in Palm Springs, California.

Lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley said that "once Gary completes 30 hours of a diversion program, his case will be entirely dismissed".

He added: "There is no jail time involved."

Dourdan has starred in CSI since the show's first season in 2000. His character was recently killed off in the eighth season finale.
