Halle Berry has revealed that she hopes being a mum will boost her career.

The Oscar winner, who gave birth to daughter Nahla Ariela in March, said she is keen to change her image in a bid to win more serious parts.

Contactmusic quotes her as saying: "I feel having a baby will open up a whole new world for me. I think I'll actually find better roles, because I've gotten past being the ingénue and sex symbol."

She added that she plans to take more time out to concentrate on caring for Nahla, her first child with boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.

The 41-year-old said: "I'm definitely going to work less. I used to put so much pressure on myself to succeed that it often made me very unhappy in my personal life. I felt on the verge of burning out three or four years ago."
